Guitar class
Safe Passage is committed to developing each child’s unique talents while teaching new skills!

The music program is a new addition to Safe Passage. In a short time we have discovered that there are many young musicians and singers eager to share their talents!

Currently, Safe Passage offers guitar lessons, piano lessons and two choirs. Jonaton, age 14 and in sixth grade, has been playing the guitar for just one year. He has already played in front of all of Safe Passage’s families at the monthly meetings, and often plays in classrooms for sing-a-longs. Jonaton recently expressed, “I would like to play choirguitar for example at a family birthday. I like playing rock songs on the guitar.” His play-list includes: The Wheels on the Bus, Hotel California and Santana’s Mariposa!

Safe Passage’s choir is also a growing success! Currently, there are 17 children ages 10 to 16 who have already performed for various hotels in Guatemala City and gladly sing for visiting groups, volunteers and visitors on a regular basis.

Volunteers are an important part of our music program. We encourage anyone with an interest in guitar, piano, choir or dance to contact us to learn more. You do not need to be an expert to enrich the lives of the children with your passion for a particular instrument or song.
