Reviewed by Dan Snierson of Entertainment Weekly in November 2007, Recycled Life received an A- rating and the following commentary:  “Warning: By watching this Oscar-nominated Edward James Olmos-narrated documentary, you hereby forfeit the right to ever complain about your life again.  In return, you will see an intriguing yet heartbreaking portrait of a Guatemala City dump that generations of trash salvagers have called home; they sift through mounds of toxic refuse, vultures circling overhead.  While the members of this microsociety are trapped in a cycle of poverty, many buoy themselves with pride, determination, and even a little humor.”

The tribute film A Safe Passage: A Tribute to Hanley Denning, was created by Recycled Life producer Mike Glad and director Leslie Iwerks immediately following the accident that claimed Hanley’s life in January using hours of footage they had taken while filming the documentary.

Come join us to be inspired, to learn more, and to support the work of Safe Passage.  We hope to see you there!
