Typically, October in Guatemala means the end of the school year, with students completing their exams, followed by celebrations of the hard work completed. This fall, much like all of 2020, looks significantly different than years past but we are making sure our children still have access to education and will celebrate those who are moving on to the next level.
Since the closure of the school in March, our staff has had to adjust their curriculum and the students have had to adapt to a different educational landscape. For our teachers, that meant completely redesigning how they teach, while ensuring the needs of the whole child were met, all with limited resources. Our students, on the other hand, had to become extremely creative due to a lack of access to technology. Needless to say, it has been a difficult year, but everyone has done tremendously well and should be proud of their accomplishments!
